We Think Green In A Big Way!

high-impact graphics that don’t have a negative impact on the environment.

jpeg-3In recent years, our country has seen a dynamic shift towards environmental consciousness. Being “green” is clearly more than just a trend. It’s a way of doing business that’s here to stay.

Spectra Images has always been committed to offering our clients high-impact graphics that don’t have a negative impact on the environment. From day-to-day environmentally-friendly business practices like recycling paper waste and ink cartridges to offering our clients eco-friendly processes and substrates, Spectra continually looks for ways to work green.

Probably the largest influence we can have in making our products as green as it can be is the choice of substrate, or material we print on.

Our vinyl is a product that comes from completely recycled post-consumer materials (like milk cartons). And it is made to last, so rather than reprinting for every use, vinyl banners and signage are sustainable and can be reused time and time again. They don’t rot or corrode like many other materials and do not need cleaning with harsh chemicals. And most vinyl is inherently recyclable.

With our large-format flat bed printer, we can print on virtually any substrate. And with the demand for greener products, manufacturers are stepping up to the plate so our customer’s choices are better (and greener) than ever.

BIOflex® from Ultra Flex Systems is a biodegradable banner material that In landfill conditions attracts microbes that break down the PVC within 3 to 5 years. BIOflex contains no toxic materials and is tear, fade and fungus resistant.

X-Board from Xanita is a versatile, environmentally-friendly board, that can be used as an alternative to foam-core boards. Made from 100% post-consumer paper waste and organic-based VOC-free adhesives X-Board can be disposed of in paper recycling bins, making it arguably the world’s most environmentally-friendly board.

Re-Board from Laird Plastics uses energy efficient production methods and water-based adhesives. Re-Board can be recycled as paper up to 4 times. Less raw materials are used in the manufacturing of Re-board - 10 times more Re-board can be made from the same amount of raw materials used to produce chip board wood products. Plus, Re-board can be recycled like regular paper - no dangerous or hazardous products are added in the production process that harm the environment, it is 100% recyclable.

There are many, many choices for substrates that offer a greener alternative. Contact Spectra at 612-339-3396 or This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it and learn how Spectra can help you with your green initiatives.

Green Quick Tip

A very basic suggestion that literally everyone can try to incorporate into their daily routine. Being “green” can be as simple as being aware, and being responsible. Using less water is a good way to use less resources, and to have less overall impact on the environment. Since the water we use in our daily lives basically gets recycled, the less we use, the less “recycling” has to be done. This is obviously an old idea, and easy to implement, yet most of us forget about all the ways we could conserve water. Consider this a friendly reminder for all of us.
